Remember, man, that you are dust...
Our forty-day journey begins today, with the cross of ashes on our foreheads to remind us of our mortality, our sinfulness, our belonging to Christ. It's rare that the secular media takes on this subject with anything more than the obligatory ashes photo on the front page of the paper the next morning. Today National Review Online, however, is offering serious reflections on the meaning of Ash Wednesday from the likes of Michael Novak, Father George Rutler, and Mother Mary Assumpta Long, O.P., of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. Click here to see what they -- and a few others -- have to say.And don't forget to check out OSV's "Your Guide to Lent" by clicking here. The downloadable poster provides explanations of Lenten traditions and suggestions for making the season more meaningful.
